Opposition suspended by conflict and delays primary

Caracas, 13 May. - RBV.info .- The opposition primaries that take place in 17 of the 87 constituencies of the country could be suspended as a result of infighting among its parties, which have impeded the progress of the process of nominating their candidates for the legislative elections of 26 September.

Gabriel Puerta Aponte, who is part of the so-called unitary Commission Agreements "table unit," said the opposition newspaper El Nacional that there is no date for the announcement of the list of nominees, although the expired March 31 the deadline set by the party leadership to decide the mechanisms for appointing their candidates.


Moreover, according to information disclosed by the same newspaper, the pattern of board members who will work in these elections, has not been delivered by the candidates who participate in them, which would result in the suspension of the elections.

The primary opposition were patterned on 25 April next, despite the conflicts in various regions of the country, Miranda, Carabobo and Barinas, face the right-wing political groups.

In Miranda, where the "table unit has announced that there would be only two primaries in the circuit, several spokesmen and candidates as Enrique Mendoza (Copei PP), Yon Goicoechea (Primero Justicia) and Henrique Capriles (Primero Justicia) have publicly called holding of elections for the designation of its postulates, which is not shared by awnings Democratic Action, A New Time and sectors of Primero Justicia.

In this regard, Goicoechea expressed its views in a newspaper opinion column in the private El Universal, published on Tuesday.
